The thematic nature of a Christmas concert calls for compositions by such world-renowned composers as Dvořák, Haydn and Händel. The opening work features the SSZ wind section in the Dvořák Serenade. Pianist Pavol Praženica, one of the talented young students of the Jan Hanuš music school in Prague who also attends the Prague Academy of Music, will display his maturing talents in the oft-played, much loved Haydn Concerto. Michaela Jančaříková, graduate of our own Žilina Conservatory, will please listeners with her delightful lyric soprano voice in two Baroque arias. The program includes traditional Slovak and American Christmas carols, arranged for chorus and orchestra. And the Žilina Mixed Chorus and chorus Omnia  will be heard in works by Mozart and Norwegian composer Ola Gjeila.
