Volker Schmidt-Gertenbach is one of the prominent conductors in Germany, and cooperates with orchestras in many countries. He has worked with the Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina since 2005. In addition to several concerts in Žilina, he has made four tours with the SSZ in Germany. Although Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture was composed 180 years ago, nothing since has detracted from its charm. In the music are heard sound-painting effects, the noise of the sea, plaintive howls of the wind and magical songs shrouded in the legends of the Scottish bards. Also on the program, listeners can look forward to the excellent Greek violinist, Iason Keramidis, who will perform the Mozart Concerto in G major, full of lightness, melody and sparkle.
