Because of the wonderful response to the organ concert by Zuzana Ferjenčiková last season, Sinfonietta Žilina has again included in this season a performance by another Slovak organist working abroad. This is the internationally renowned Monika Melcova, a graduate of the Conservatory in Košice and music academies in Vienna and Paris. She is the winner of several international organ competitions. After completing her studies, she worked as an organist in Japan. After returning to France, in addition to teaching duties, she was the titular organist at the church of Saint Martin des Champs in Paris. Since 2008, she has taught improvisation at the Music Academy in San Sebastian, Spain. She performs often in Europe and Japan, with regular appearances in the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and the Royal Chapel in Granada, and makes recordings for record companies in France, Japan, Spain and Slovakia.
